Towards The Future
Although the last few years have not been easy for our church, and it has been a struggle to maintain and use an unimproved traditional building for God's Kingdom in today's world, we are convinced that Fishergate Baptist Church does have a future, and a role in His purposes.
During 2007, thanks to financial support from the Faith Communities Capacity Building Fund we have been able to spend time analysing our situation and context, consulting with interested parties, and reflecting on options for the future.
Following a conference in November 2007 (report available by clicking here) we are now moving into a period of action planning and in particular at
1) Recruiting a group of around 12 committed Christians to join the membership of the church and strengthen its mission and ministry.
2) Commissioning an architectural feasibility study and drawing up a business plan for the future sustainable redevelopment of the building
3) Making better use of the basement facilities, developing the outreach to homeless and needy people (with an emphasis on the young) in partnership with the other agencies represented in the Preston Homeless Network.
